KURSANGEBOT
Birth preparation classes
Practical, evidence-based, parent-informed birth preparation courses designed to help you understand the physiology of labour and support your mind and body so that you’re prepared to welcome your baby.
GROUP COURSE
This two-day course prepares you for your baby's arrival in a grounded, practical way, helping you experience pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period as profound transformations. Beyond simply providing information, it explores the personal and emotional journey of becoming a parent. On the first day, we will examine how your body works during labour, the resources you already carry within you, and how difficult emotions, such as pain, fear, or the intensity of contractions, connect to and support the physiology of birth. At the same time, we’ll explore practical strategies to support yourself and your baby and be supported by your partner (movement and positions, breathing, physical touch and massage –to name a few).
On the second day, we explore the first hours, days and weeks after birth: What physical, emotional and hormonal changes are you expected to go through as a new mum? How is life outside of the womb for your baby? What role does the new dad/partner play? What do you need to recover, heal and grow?. We will also explore infant feeding, the architecture of infant sleep, responsive parenting, and where to look for help if you need to.
Dates
- 2nd and 3rd of May 2026
- 15th and 16th of August 2026
- 7th and 8th of November 2026
In case there are fewer than 2 applications we will get in touch with you a week before the course to arrange for a private course (see below).
PRIVATE COURSE
A private course offers you and your partner the possibility of having an in-depth preparation for the perinatal period based on your individual preferences. While the basics of the last four weeks of pregnancy, labour and birth itself as well as the postpartum period, are covered, there’s time and space to focus on your particular wishes and needs. Be it that you would like to look at some specific topics in more detail, wish for a refresher after your previous birth experience, are expecting medical interventions (like a C-section) or discuss your options around choosing your mode and place of birth.
Your health insurance covers 150CHF for either a group or a private birth preparation course.
